Another example of external thermal retrofit insulation. This house in Dundrum has been insulated with EPS polystyrene boards achieving great u-value of 0.27 W/m²K. Part of front elevation with red brick finish has been reconstructed to match the original appearance with flexible brick slips specially designed for use on external insulation systems. Rest of house has been finished with acrylic render.
Terraced house in Tallaght, Old Bawn insulated externally with 4 inch expanded polystyrene boards.
Finish coat: acrylic; Reveals: 20mm EPS insulation; Sills: aluminium, powder coated; 4 new vents has been drilled to bring the house in line with current Building Regulations.
Bungalow in Blackrock insulated with ATLAS/AVAL external wall insulation system. Walls has been insulated with 100mm graphite enhanced EPS and plastered with thin layer acrylic render. House ventilation has been upgraded to conform with the latest Building Regulations. All reveals insulated with 20mm polystyrene boards to reduce cold bridging to minimum. Concrete sills has been removed, insulated and replaced with aluminium powder coated sills made to match original.
This terraced house in Drimnagh is one of many in the area built in 1930's. The cast concrete walls have no insulation and considering extensive dampness and lack of internal space, external insulation was the only reasonable solution. Moreover, wall insulation grant available from SEAI has covered a large portion of installation costs.
One of the most extensive projects in our portfolio. All the external walls has been insulated with use of ATLAS/AVAL external wall insulation system giving to the house a fresh and consistent look with a great u-value of 0.27 W/m²K.
All front single glazed windows has been replaced with a new, energy efficient, double glazed PVC windows. Old concrete sills has been partially removed and replaced with insulated, purpose made, aluminium sills painted to match the colour of the windows. Finally, a new canopy and roof above the porch has been erected and the garden walls finished with a coat of acrylic plaster.
This semi-detached house in Kilmacud has been insulated externally with 100/125mm EPS insulation boards. Front elevation has been restored with use of additional 25mm insulation sheets. Finish coat: acrylic 1.5mm; Sills: purpose made aluminium, powder coated, to match original; Reveals: 20mm EPS board to minimise cold bridging.
Pitched roof has been insulated with high thermal performance 60mm Xtratherm Thin-R PIR insulation boards (between rafters) and 50mm Thin-R Thermal Liner (below rafters) to achieve a u-value of 0.20 W/m²K
Another example of house retrofit where two types of wall insulation has been used. Its major part, built with hollow block has been insulated externally with use of 100mm graphite enhanced polystyrene boards. Timber frame rear and side extension, originally insulated with 50mm PIR insulation between studs has been upgraded with 42mm insulated plasterboard panels to comply with current Building Regulations. The ventilation has been brought in line with TDG 2002 part F of the building regulations. Finish coat: acrylic 1.5mm; Sills: purpose made aluminium, powder coated, to match original; Reveals: 20mm EPS board to minimise cold bridging.
Terraced house in Drimnagh insulated with 100mm EPS insulation boards. Finish coat: 1.5mm grain silicate; Sills: purpose made aluminium, powder coated, to match original; Reveals: 20mm EPS board to minimise cold bridging. All cast iron down pipes has been repleaced with new uPVC.
This detached house in Walkinstown has been insulated externally with 100mm graphite enhanced polystyrene boards upgrading its u-value from 2.15 to 0.27 W/m²K (as required by current Building Regulations 2008 TGD Part L). Finish coat: silicate 1.5mm; Sills: aluminium, powder coated, to match original; Reveals: 20mm EPS board to minimise cold bridging.
External thermal insulation of semi-detached house in Dundrum with ATLAS/AVAL External Thermal Insulation Composite System. Finish coat: acrylic 1.5mm and 3.0mm; Sills: purpose made, aluminium, powder coated, to match existing; Plinths: resin based mosaic finish. Achieved u-value: 0.27 W/m²K
Loft has been insulated with 300mm fibre glass insulation to achieve a u-value of 0.16 W/m²K.
This mid-terrace house was insulated internally and externally. As the front red brick facade had to be retained unchanged, it was insulated internally with 70mm Xtratherm Thin-R Thermal Liner. All remaining walls were insulated with external wall insulation composite system.
See works gallery of single wall external insulation in Foxrock. The wall was insulated with use of low thermal conductivity graphite enhanced EPS boards, achieving u-value of 0.27 W/m²K.
